Reading the First-Hour Range Without Rushing the Break
Most of the traders who join our evening sessions already know the phrase opening range. Fewer agree on when that range ends. At Mind Archway Point we treat the first sixty minutes of the cash session as a provisional box, then we ask whether the overnight gap has already spent energy that the morning break will need.
A common mistake is to treat every print above the box high as a breakout. We ask students to mark three facts first: the overnight gap size relative to the prior day's range, whether the open occurred inside or outside yesterday's value area, and whether the first thirty minutes chopped or trended.
Only after those marks do we discuss breakout criteria. Failed breaks that reverse into the gap are not treated as noise; they are part of the lesson. The chart pack for each Intensive includes opens where the range held, opens where it expanded cleanly, and opens where the gap filled and the range reset.
If you are preparing for the Opening-Range Intensive, practise boxing the first hour on ten recent sessions before you arrive. Bring the charts that confused you. Confusion is useful material in the room.
